Meeting Client Health Needs

As public health concerns ebb and flow, this page will be updated to provide more information on ho

Telepsychological Services Available

Because it is important for us all to live safe, healthy & vital lives  Dr. Padilla is offering services safely and securely through an encrypted HIPPA compliant online telehealth platform that allows for video sessions, as well as in-person sessions.

Please keep in mind that while many insurance companies include telehealth video sessions in their covered services, there may be limits set by your insurance plan that could result in undesired out-of-pocket expenses. Our office will make every attempt to determine what services your insurance plan will cover and will inform you of what your insurance has relayed to our office; however, if misinformation is provided to our office from the insurance plan or covered services change, our office is not responsible for related changes to covered and uncovered services. To help reduce unexpected costs and errors, we encourage all clients to learn about and stay up to day about their health insurance covereage for therapy services.

For Detailed  Instructions on How to Initiate Your Telehealth Session click the "How To Join My Telehealth Session" link below. Once your telehealth appointment is scheduled you will be given more specifics from Dr. Padilla.

What I Need to Know About Telepsychological & Technology Services

As part of your New Client Forms an informed consent thoroughly explains all of the known potential technological concerns associated with telecommunication services, including, but not limited to video, telephone, text, email, message, and apps.

Here is an example of the types of topics covered in this form:

  • There are potential benefits and risks of video-conferencing (e.g. limits to patient confidentiality) that differ from in-person sessions.
  • Confidentiality still applies for telepsychology services, and nobody will record the session without your permission or the permission from the others person(s).
  • We agree to use the video-conferencing platform selected for our virtual sessions, and the psychologist will explain how to use it.
  • You need to use a webcam or smartphone during the session.
  • It is important to be in a quiet, private space that is free of distractions (including cell phone or other devices) during the session.
  • It is important to use a secure internet connection rather than public/free Wi-Fi.
  • It is important to be on time. If you need to cancel or change your tele-appointment, you must notify the psychologist in advance by phone, text or email.
  • We need a back-up plan (e.g., phone number where you can be reached) to restart the session or to reschedule it, in the event of technical problems.
  • We need a safety plan that includes at least one emergency contact and the closest emergency room to your location, in the event of a crisis situation.
  • If you are not an adult, we need the permission of your parent or legal guardian (and their contact information) for you to participate in telepsychology sessions.
  • You should confirm with your insurance company that the video sessions will be reimbursed; if they are not reimbursed, you are responsible for full payment.
  • As your psychologist, I may determine that due to certain circumstances, telepsychology is no longer appropriate and that we should find a means for in-person services.
